What you need to run Fate Tracker
Everything on this page is what the current release actually needs. If something is still being tested, it says so.
Your computer
| Windows version | Windows 11. That is the system this release is built and tested for. Windows 10 testing is planned and has not been completed, so we do not list Windows 10 as supported yet. |
|---|---|
| Type of computer | A normal Windows desktop or laptop. Fate Tracker installs and runs as a Windows desktop application. |
| Internet | Not needed to run. Fate Tracker works offline, with no account to create and nothing uploaded. |
| Storage | Room for your safe copies, kept in a separate folder you choose — ideally on a second drive. A safe copy holds the durable parts of your project; files that have not changed are stored once, so later copies stay much smaller than the first. |
| Permissions | The ability to install a normal desktop program and to read the folder your game lives in. |
Your game project
- The project needs to exist as a complete folder on your Windows computer. Fate Tracker protects files it can read on your own drives.
- A project that lives only inside a web service, a preview link, or cloud storage that has not been downloaded is not yet on your computer — download a complete copy first.
- Fate Tracker never puts its own files inside your project, and connecting a project changes nothing inside it.

AI helpers: what is and is not included
- Fate Tracker does not include an AI subscription. You keep using whichever AI chat you already pay for, or none at all.
- Fate Tracker does not supply AI API credits, keys, or usage of any kind.
- Fate Tracker works alongside AI-assisted building by preparing careful, bounded instructions from your own local project files, which you paste into your assistant.
- Some assistant connections need separate setup on your side — for example, adding the local connector to a coding assistant by hand, following that assistant's own current instructions. These are not one-click integrations, and they depend on the other product, which can change.
- Fate Tracker itself sends nothing anywhere. It has no network features.
What this release focuses on
The current commercial release is focused on game projects built on a Windows computer. Other kinds of projects are not part of this release.
About the installer: the customer installer is code-signed, so Windows names a verified publisher when you open it. If Windows shows a security warning instead, stop and write to support rather than working around it.
